Whole 30 Day Four – a wee bit of frustration (and constipation) is starting to set in. And there’s my topic for today.

Completing a Whole 30 Post Weight Loss Surgery.

Doing a Whole 30 means eliminating grains and legumes from your diet for a month. Post WLS, this takes out quite a lot of the fibre from our diet.
For a normal-ish person, 20-25 grams of fibre should see you stay pretty regular. Trying to get that on the Whole 30 and sticking to three meals and no snacks … its bloody hard.
Google recommended sources of fibre and what do we get?

  • Beans.
  • Whole grains.
  • Brown rice.
  • Popcorn.
  • Nuts. Almonds, pecans, and walnuts.
  • Baked potato with skin.
  • Berries. All the seeds plus the skin.
  • Bran cereal
  • Oatmeal
  • Vegetables – the crunchier the better.

My Whole 30 list of fibre and digestion recommendations looks like this …

  1. Eat 4-5 meals a day and try and get 4-5 grams of fibre each meal
    1. (half a sliced banana and 24 almonds gives you 5 grams.
    2. Or carrots and broccoli have between 2.6 and 2.8 grams per 100 grams.
    3. Or Chia Seeds. At nearly 35 grams of fibre per 100 grams, its time to make Chia Pudding. To have with raspberries!
  2. If you aren’t regular, don’t leave it too long before you do something about it! I almost cancelled an F45 class today as I was … bunged up. I’d started taking my loosening tablets yesterday and also put black coffee to work.
  3. DRINK YOUR WATER!!

Right. Topic covered? If you have questions – let me know.

Breakfast – Meal One – Ken made Scrambled Eggs with Bacon and Baby Spinach and some of the left over Bacon Rosa Sauce.

Wayyyyyyy too delicious – that sauce!!

Snack – Meal Two – Almond Yoghurt with Raspberries, Blueberries, Almonds, Walnuts and Almond Butter.

Meal Three – Lunch – Lamb Strips in Harissa with Red Onion, Tomato and Cucumber (and some sunflower seeds)

One of my goals for this year is to really get stuck into our study – my Home Office – my studio. Post-Christmas it was an absolute BOMB SITE. I shared Exhibit A, the chaos, yesterday. And some of the work I did on the bottom shelves.
Well, today I did the top (of what I think was a bunk bed – our old cottage is very weird). And I am very very proud of my decluttering and organising efforts.

Then we treated ourselves.
Basic salads from Pita Pit for dinner and AquaMan at the movies! We both love these kinds of films – I’m not ashamed – and I really enjoyed this one.

After our movie date, we popped into the supermarket.
Cross your fingers for me, I bought a watermelon. It better be a good one!
