I’ve spent quite a bit of time thinking about and planning where I want to be career-wise in 2020, and so to round it out, and make sure it all fitted, I absolutely had to think about my health and fitness goals. And my wellbeing goals too.

A few months ago I set myself the lofty goal of competing in the 2020 WBFF New Zealand transformation division so I have had the benefit to those plans to use as a starting point.
In order to get up on that stage in a gorgeous bikini and a pair of very very high heels, I not only need to get my body ready to a point that I think it’s worthy of peoples time to watch me strut but I need to get my mind in a place where it is ready and willing to make the commitment to myself.

So how do I get ready, get set and go?
Bearing in mind that I absolutely cannot deal with too much change at one time and each action needs to build on the previous for consistency.

In a nutshell … a personal mission statement as well as goals.

Commit to 2020 being a year of Deep Health.
Living with Health, Intent and Happiness

  • consuming a balanced diet of mostly fresh, whole foods
  • eating food slowly & mindfully
  • moving my body regularly in a way that feels good to me
  • allowing myself to genuinely rest & recover
  • getting a good amount of sleep
  • paying attention to how my body feels, performs, and functions
  • taking care of not only my physical health but my emotional & mental health too
  • nurturing positive relationships, including the relationship I have with myself
  • mastering my self-talk so that it is positive, supportive, resilient, and kind
  • setting up supportive environments to help me succeed
  • living with intent and purpose, and using my life as an expression of my core values
  1. Complete the January Whole 30.
Evict Christmas from my body – and the fridge! Gets me back into the habit of prepping meals and not relying on supplements and processed foods.
  2. Average 10,000 steps a day every week in 2020.
Goes hand in hand with the one to follow …
  3. Train to be able to run 5km.
To complete the We Run the Night in Feb 2020 and another event in that year.
  4. Upgrade my Nutrition knowledge and coaching level certification.
everything I have learned the last two years through Precision Nutrition, and coaching, compliments the healthy life I love and want to continue to live.
  5. Stay sober.
My friend Greer said it best when she said all of these things that made me sit up and think …
I thought I would be totally boring without it.
I used it to run away from the thoughts and feelings that I didn’t like.
I thought I couldn’t handle my stresses without it.
I used it to quieten down the voices at the end of the day.
And all that basically told me was that most of the time I didn’t drink because I enjoyed it, I used drink as an escape.
