The first thing I do every morning is weigh myself. No that’s not right, I pee and THEN I weigh myself.
Down 500 grams from yesterday morning. Okay, that’s pretty cool.

It’s Sunday and whilst the plan for today was to go for a walk/run with Carol and the Poodles, then head into the Zoo to see Lisette and then sit on my ass all afternoon, it’s now gone 4pm and I’m only just getting to the sitting on my ass bit.
Today was another stretch day in the Step Bet Challenge so I needed to finish the week strong and get another 14,500 odd steps. I’ve definitely got that!

Ken had to work today so he was up even earlier than me and I got a treat – coffee in bed.  I drink my first morning coffee black.  Its the little kick in the pants I need to get on with my day.  I finally got up and got into my running gear and I made a Green Smoothie.  It looks more baby poop than green (but then almost everything I am eating right now looks baby poop colour!)

I blended 200mls of coconut water with 2 tbsp coconut yoghurt, 1 scoop Celebrate Vitamins Vanilla Bean Meal Replacement Protein powder, 1 scoop X50 Instant Super Green Smoothie and 1 heaped tbsp blueberries.  Then I raced off to meet Carol and the Poodles for our walk.

We started from the Hamilton Gardens carpark and walked up to Riverlea via the River Walk, back down to the Gardens and along to Grey Street for a cup of tea.  So my 9:30am drink was a large cup of Earl Grey.

Once we had made it back to the car, I had to shoot.  I raced back to the Zoo, grabbed a Medium Soy Flat White (11am liquids – my one milky coffee of the day) and I went hunting around the Zoo to try and find Lisette and her crew.  I hung out with them for the next few hours, clocking up lots of steps and repeating a lot of the funny zoo stories and facts I’ve learned over the last couple of years.  Then as they stopped for lunch at the cafe, I had a protein shake.  These Balance Sports Nutrition shakes are A+++

By the time I got home at about 2pm, I was feeling a little jaded.  I knew I hadn’t had a lot to eat but I was thirsty, I hadn’t drunk nearly enough water and I was definitely getting dehydrated.  I had a massive glass of water, hah that took about 20 minutes to drink and then I waited my 30 minutes before I could  have something to eat.  At 3pm, I had a serving (250mls or 1 cup) of my Kale, White Bean and Chicken Soup, with a drizzle of Spicy Green Goddess dressing and some parmesan cheese shavings and black pepper.

Once I’d finished lunch, I promised myself a bit of a sit down so I grabbed Kayes book and a shaker of Bodiez Protein Water and sat in the sun for a bit.  I managed 2.5 shakers (approximately 1.5L) and to not fall asleep on our new outdoor lounger.  But holy crap the not falling asleep bit was tough!  Bodiez Protein Water I buy through amsnutrition.co.nz and for 1 scoop I get around 15 grams of protein.  A serving size is 2 scoops but thats way too sweet in my little shaker.

So my steps were well and truly nailed ….

… and it was dinner time so I finished up my day with a Beef, Black Bean & Tomato soup and sat my ass on the couch.  Ken was dying to watch Suicide Squad so we rented it on iTunes and after I ate my dinner and drank my tea, I fell asleep!!

I really listened to my body today – and my head – and it was quite interesting. I think about food A LOT. Whether its in the car (that was a habitual place to eat) or what we are going to have for different meals, I think about food lots. Just like yesterday, my heads telling me its time to eat or I need to eat but my body is disagreeing. So I went with what my body was saying.
Except late this morning, early this afternoon. And that was really an exception.
Keeping up the water is key and as I’m slightly concerned about getting constipated again, even more so now that I’m eating mostly protein and no fibre.

And I’m excited to be chewing again tomorrow … day three – soft proteins!
